Project description

This MPD project perfectly illustrates the power of modern measurement techniques. The key to success lies in the qualifications of engineers involved in field data collection, MPD system design, and production and installation supervision (dimensional and positional aspects).

Capnor's comprehensive competencies ensured an efficient process with minimal risk, as tasks and information flow occurred within a single organization. The project's goal was to install the entire MPD system on the Discoverer India without any grinding or welding (bolt-up solution) in the shortest possible time.

This was achieved by designing pipelines and structural supports in an "as is" virtual environment (represented by a point cloud), including tie-in connections. Prefabrication specialists ensured that production quality matched the drawings and precisely determined installation locations on board.

Analyzing from the client's perspective: despite the additional expense in the initial phase of the project, the use of laser scanning technology and entrusting the other phases of the project to Capnor, the client saved a significant part of the budget compared to the budget of the project carried out using 'traditional methods'.
