Starting out in 2004, Capnor provided a complete laser scan survey of the top deck of Odin (renamed to Alvheim after conversion). The top deck was fully modelled and delivered for use with the design model in PDMS. This proved to be a very valuable tool for our client, Marathon Oil, both for detail engineering and for general information purposes.

Laser scanning was also used for dimensional check of the riser buoy mating system, to ensure safe pull-in when offshore. Modules were scanned both in Norway and Singapore, and compared in a virtual fit-up.
