Automobile manufacturers are known to have the most up-to-date CAD systems and data for their vehicle production. Yet it is still rare for a company to have accurate 3D data about the existing production line equipment in their facility. Even if they had 3D CAD data of the equipment it is unlikely that the data was kept up to date with "on the fly" modifications that tend to occur during installation and vehicle production.
